Having lived in Essex, ON his whole life, Matt C. grew up around greenhouses but never thought about working in fresh produce. He tried a few different jobs and went to school to study a range of subjects, the most recent being Business-Human Resources at St. Clair College. But in the summer of 2020, Matt decided to give fresh produce a shot–Matt is currently a member of our Commodities team as a DC Commodity Coordinator!

According to Matt, one of the most important skills a Commodity Coordinator can have is good communication: “I feel that communication is my strongest asset in this role. I am always talking with three people at one time, so it is important to be clear and direct while communicating with people. This is also an important part of maintaining good relationships.”

Matt was told by many of his family members working in fresh produce that Nature Fresh Farms is a great place to work–and he has now experienced that first-hand: “To me, Nature Fresh Farms means opportunity. Here you have all the tools and teammates necessary to become a better employee and better person. I also really admire the company’s generosity and how much they give back.”

You can always find Matt spending his free time hanging out with friends, staying active with sports, and learning new things (for example, he is currently reading a book on astrophysics)!

As a Commodity Coordinator, Matt is responsible for managing our Bell Pepper inventory at our Leamington, ON Distribution Center. He also works hard to ensure our customers receive quality products that meet their specifications and communicates with other departments to problem solve and get the job done efficiently.
